Country Western – Country Western dance is a social dance that has been influenced by the Foxtrot, Waltz and many other forms of social dancing. As gentlemen from New York began to travel out West, they encountered farmers and cowboys. After a long hard day’s work, these men and women would gather in barns and rodeo socials to dance. The farmers and cowboys saw how the gentlemen from NY were dancing, began to copy them in their own style, and dances like the Two-Step and Country Waltz were born. In the late 1980’s and early 1990’s the country music scene exploded in the US and Country Western dance began to take off, enveloping many styles of dance under the country mantel.
