Viennese Waltz SilhouetteViennese Waltz – The Viennese Waltz originated in Austria some 400 years ago. Danced to a fast 6/8 rhythm, the dance sends couples whirling around the room – first one way and then the other. In the early 19th century, Joseph Lanner and Johann Strauss wrote the first waltzes. In the middle of the 20th century, Paul Krebs of Germany choreographed the Viennese Waltz style that we dance today.
